HERE ARE SOME INSPIRING IDEAS FROM SCHOOLS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE HELPED US TO RAISE MONEY FOR ENDANGERED WILDLIFE OVER THE PAST YEAR.
SCHOOLS
Holmbury Playgroup, Holmbury St Mary, raised £100 for the elephant orphanage.
Aldington Primary School, Ashford, Kent raised £101.35 for tigers witha raffle of a tiger sketch and cuddly tiger at their school fete.
Year 10 pupils from Gosden House School asked family and friends to fill empty Smartie tubes with coins and collected £34 for DSWF and Ashdown House School recently hosted a David Shepherd chat show and raised over £3,000 in donations and sales.
Ashurst Wood School raised £243 from donations and ticket sales from their wonderful production of “Savannah Tales” based on “The Lion King”
Brambletye School made £240 from the silent auction of art teacher David Holden’s picture of a Masai warrior and from coins collected in the tiger outline created by Martha Gibson, one of last year’s art competition winners.
The Abbey School, Reading, raised £296 during Eco-Week to help save the tiger by holding a “Guess the Name of he Tiger” competition.
INDIVIDUALS
On 25th July 10 year old Connor Phipps from Kineton (near Warwick), supported by members of his family, held an exhibition of his and his art tutor, Jon Mole’s paintings, and together with a raffle and sale of cakes and drinks managed to raise a staggering £551 for the Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia.
Aslana Cook, aged 6, held a cake and toy sale at her home in Chippenham and was able to send us a cheque for over £50 to support DSWF’S efforts to save the tiger from extinction.
Our warmest thanks go also to 16 year old Vasu Patel from Zambia who sent a donation of £35 with his Global Canvas Art Competition entry; to Caroline Neubert from Glendower Prep School for the £15 which she collected from her generous family and to Angelo Econoumou of Birkdale High School for his donation of £80.
DSWF is hugely appreciative of the generosity of both individuals and organisations who kindly put the effort into coming up with such original ways of helping us to raise both money for, and awareness of, our conservation projects in Africa and Asia.
So choose your event, decide on the location and the date, ask your parents and teachers to help you advertise in the local papers or on notice-boards, collect sponsorship (download the form at the bottom of this page) from your family and friends and then send it in to DSWF - you can even choose which project you want to support and 100% of your money will go straight to that project!
Any school or individual raising over £100 will receive a FREE signed copy of a David Shepherd pencil sketch. For those raising £200 or more you will receive a FREE animal adoption pack of your choice.
ADOPT A VANISHING SPECIES
Ask your parents if you can adopt an endangered animal for your birthday or for Christmas present.Or perhaps your teacher or headteacher would consider an adoption for your class or school-one of the animals below could become your class or school mascot.
Fundraising with your school can be fun and educational too! Kim Hale, education co-ordinator (above right) can help you and your school make saving wildlife really special!

Stover School in Devon who donated £200 following a visit by Mandy Shepherd.
Pupils at Lovelace Primary School in Chessington, who held a cake sale in November raising £102.89 for conservation.
Dean Close School, Cheltenham, for raising a magnificent £4,800 from David Shepherd's chat show there.
Downside School in Somerset raised £4,826.25 to help improve educational facilities in the 18 schools close to the Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia. This generous donation will go a long way to fund much-needed equipment for pupils. (Below: David visits a school in Ngoma)
